Press Release from the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants:

The Helpers, with the support of the local church and the Bishop Gerard Hanna, the Bishop of Wagga Wagga, will be formulating a counter petition stating that the right to protest lawfully should be protected and upheld.

The Helpers of God’s Precious Infants maintain our lawful right to peacefully and prayerfully protest outside the Albury Abortion Clinic.  The Helpers have offered information and help (practical, emotional and financial) to hundreds of women facing a crisis pregnancy over the last 15 years.  The Helpers believe that every person we meet should be treated with dignity.   There have been false allegations and emotive arguments used in the media to confuse the community about what the Helpers do.   The Helpers have always conducted themselves lawfully and do not harass, obstruct or abuse any person attending the clinic but rather offer practical assistance and emotional support to those facing real problems in their lives. The abortion clinic maintains full surveillance of their property and have never produced any evidence to support their spurious claims.  The abortion clinic loses money when their customers decide to accept our offers of assistance. Victorian Dr Pieter Mourik, and his supporters would like to remove the democratic right to protest in relation to abortion. This is a dangerous precedent. Once the right to protest is excluded for one specific issue, the right to protest any issue is likely to be denied by people in power who will decide what issues are and are not acceptable to them and able to be protested. The Helpers, with the support of the local church and the Bishop Gerard Hanna, the Bishop of Wagga Wagga, will be formulating a counter petition stating that the right to protest lawfully should be protected and upheld.
